March 31, 2015
After searching on Craigslist and AutoTrader we found the truck we were looking for in Sandy Utah: a 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 SLT Quad Cab with a Cummins 5.9L turbo diesel engine, 4WD with only 48 000 miles.
Because our journey will take us through South America, we had to go with a 2007 truck or older because of the Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel Fuel ULSD that is not available in most Central and South American countries.
Since we were in Florida and the truck in Utah, we hired the Lemon Squad to do an inspection and everything came out good.
We then contacted Montway Auto Transport and we had our truck delivered within 3 days on March 31st 2015.
The next step will be the addition of the V1 XPCamper in June 2015 (ended up being the end of August).
We will be leaving Florida May 5th heading for the Overland Expo West May 15-17, 2015 in Flagstaff AZ to get “outfitted, trained and inspired”. Then Grass Valley CA to the XPCamper factory.
My family is always looking for its next adventure. Great read and glad to see you all are making the most out of life. We are a family run business and I love to keep the kids involved with the operations to get them engaged as possible. Looking forward to seeing more posts from your new adventure.

It’s great to have read about your adventures. My partner is going to the Overland Expo next week in Plain Washington to look at the XPCamper and to learn about what’s out there that will be of use to us for starting a new life. Where are you now and how are you doing?
Thanks for your comments Sidney. We love our XPCamper, hope your partner will enjoy Expo, it’s a great place to see all the options out there! We are now enjoying Belize and should be in Guatemala next week. Cheers! J&J
Hi Joe & Josee. I finally checked out your web page that Joe told me about. You are so lucky and fortunate to go on this adventure. The pictures are great. We have been to a few of the same places too on our vacations. Be safe out there and enjoy everything you do, see and encounter. Keep the pictures coming.
Hi guys and good to hear from you guys. May I suggest to sign up for ExpatExchange, com and get assistance from other Expats who have done this adventure. Good luck and stay in touch
Thanks Gerry we will look into it, it could be useful. We are now in Port Angeles WA waiting for a ferry to Victoria BC on our way to Alaska. Take care!

Drink the water, if you don’t you will not make it. There is aqua puruficado in every town and we fill the tank with that. We eat the street food and lots of tortillas and haven’t gotten sick yet. So take any advice from non-overlanders with a grain of salt.
I wanted to ask you what arrangements gave you made to get ac toss El Choco and thru Darien, Pansma into Colombia? As far as I know the road is not finished yet. 🚓
Hi Gerry, if the Ferry Xpress does not resume its operations by the time we are ready to cross, we will have to ship in a container or roro. We will worry about it when we get closer. We are now near Biloxi MS, New Orleans tomorrow .
I’m being told from PTY (Panama) that the Ferry Express is out of business. Looking for other alternatives for you guys
Thanks Gerry. We are now driving through Texas, on our way to Flagstaff AZ.
Stay in touch.
For sure Gerry. Take care.
Good luck guys. Don’t drink the water inMexico, Honduras or San Salvador and stay away from the tortillas. Panama has good ceviche, fried fish and cold beer though. Good luck
Thanks Gerry, the big day is tomorrow. We are leaving from Florida and heading to Flagstaff AZ.
You are going to have a blast! We love our XP and we love the life style.
Thanks, we can’t wait.
So so happy for you and Joe! Sounds like a trip of a life time! Love to you both!
Thanks Debbie, who knows maybe you will join us somewhere when you retire. Love Josée and Joe.
Keep me posted on your adventure. Especially when you get into Panama.
This is something I always wanted to do but………. Good luck on your journey. God be with you- going and coming! Gerry D.
Thank you Gerry, we will definitely reach out when we get to Panama, hopefully you will be around. Josée and Joe
